Fashion always changes generation to generation and region to region that is why it is called fashion. Scarves are the one of the integral part of fashion, gone through the same process and still witnessing the changes. Earlier scarves were supposed to provide warmth and comfort around face and neck during harsh climatic days, now they are worn for adding class and style to main apparel as well. Popularity of scarves has grown so immense everyone wants to wear it but many people especially the new users don’t know exactly how to tie a scarf. Scarves for women have as many tying techniques as their varieties however for men, scarves are new styling accessory. Here are some tying techniques of men’s scarves.

Style1. Slip knot: make a simple fold of scarf widthwise then fold it lengthwise giving a simple hoop shape. Hang the scarf around the neck; keep the loop one side of shoulder. Now insert the other end from loop then pull it but not tightly and lastly adjust it. This knot is also called European loop. Slip knot goes well with short jacket and best for both business and casual purposes.

Style2. Fake Knot: fold the scarf lengthwise. Dangle it around neck in equal length. Now make a loose knot in one hanging side. Insert the other side through the knot and pull in different directions and tightened it. Adjust both the ends so that they appear equal in length. The whole process will lead to a formation of alluring fake knot. This kind of knot is apt for cool casual and semi-formal look and can be teamed with long and short jackets and coats.

Style3. Ascot Knot: do the same – folding of scarf lengthwise and placing it around neck. The hanging side of scarf must be equal. Bring the one side of scarf closer to other side and make it cross other side. Insert it in the loop and pull. Now adjust the both sides, the length of both sides should be equal. This knot looks great on open jacket and turtle neck or high collar jacket.

Style4. Twice around ascot knot: the first step is doing the same thing, making a simple fold and hanging the scarf around neck in equal length. Take one side and let it again pass through the neck. Adjust so we can have equal hanging side. After this repeat the step of style 3 from where we bring one side closer to another. On longer scarves this method works best.

Style5. Twice around neck: place scarf in front of your neck so that two sides hang at your back. Now cross the two sides and bring them in front of your neck. A perfect style for casual outfits, go well with a pair of jacket and jeans.

Style6. The toss: place scarf around neck, keep one hanging side slightly longer than other. Now cross the longer side over your neck so that it can rest upon on your back side of neck.

There are other tying methods for men’s scarves as well but I would like to ask people to use their own creative ideas so that wearing of scarves become more enjoyable. It is not necessary for men to use only cotton scarves or scarves of other thick fabrics because same tying technique can be use with silk scarves.
